Riley loves the bump

This puppy has never been more snuggly. I love that he just lays on the belly for as long as I let him and doesn't even mind when Baby P kicks him in the face. Can't wait for him to meet the baby face to face! He's going to be an awesome "big brother".

26 weeks!

Week 26:

Pregnancy Stats:

How Far Along: 26 weeks and 3 days

Size of baby: Still says Eggplant or "Hot House Cucumber".. whatever that is....

Total Weight Gain: Current Weiht: 144... eek!

Gender: Been hearing more "It's a girl" than "It's a boy" this week as opposed to last week where EVERYONE said boy. I love not knowing!

Movement: BP is a ninja. I am sure of it. This kid chops and kicks me all day. The other night it felt like it was doing jumping jacks in there. Wowza.

Sleep: Sleeping SO much better now that C is home AND we are in the process of booting the pups out of bed. Riley has slept with us since he was a puppy (6+ years now) and so it's been tough but we are both sleeping so much better for it.

What I miss: Running. I really, really miss running. Hoping to get a jogging stroller so that BP and I can go on some runs when he/she gets here!

Cravings: PAD THAI.. still. Also loving baked potatoes, Rice Krispie Treats Cereal, and Jazz apples.

Symptoms: Other than weight gain, not many - I feel great!

Maternity Clothes: Currently wishing I had more...

Best Moment this week: Hanging out on the couch with Casey and the pups watching my belly move. Also Casey blowing raspberries on my belly and the baby responding to it. BP also enjoys The Black Crowes apparently.

Week 25

Week 25:

Pregnancy Stats:

How Far Along: 25 weeks and 4 days

Size of baby: Eggplant

Total Weight Gain: Currently holding at 142. That makes it a total of 21 lbs gained so far.

Gender: EVERYBODY is telling me that it's going to be a boy including the sweet 70 year old Vietnamese lady who is tailoring my bridesmaid dress for Leigh Anne's wedding. I told her that I was pregnant and I needed to get my dress tailored and the first thing she said to me was "Oh it boy huh? You having boy?" Haha - she would probably know more about whether it's a boy than I do.

Movement: Baby Page is a mover and a shaker! This week he/she has been balling up at the top of my abdomen which is not very comfortable at all. It make sit very difficult to breathe and I often have to arch my back and bend forward to be able to get a deep breath in.

Sleep: Casey has been out of town for the past week so I have not been sleeping very well at all.

What I miss: Fitting into my regular clothes. Other than that I am really enjoying being pregnant right now. :)

Cravings: Pad Thai, thin crust pizza from Pizza Hut, cupcakes.

Symptoms: Same as last week, just my hips and back a little. Feeling good otherwise.

Maternity Clothes: .... I'm already growing out of some of my MATERNITY clothes. They say to buy your normal size when shopping in the maternity section but some of the smalls I bought aren't fitting over my big belly anymore and I'm only 25 weeks! Yikes!

Best Moment this week: Spending quality time with my friends while Casey is out of town. I love my husband more than anything but I do feel like sometimes I neglect my friends because I want to spend ALL of my time with C. I guess that's love for you though right?

Holy Sheet!

THE CRIB SHEETS I WANT FOR THE NURSERY ARE ON BACKORDER UNTIL NOVEMBER!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Everyone keeps telling me "Don't buy anything until after the shower" and I've been very good at listening, but something told me to go ahead and buy these sheets and I didn't. :(

What is a girl to do??? If anyone knows where I can get this Migi Bananafish Sweet Sunshine Fitted Sheet PLEASE let me know! I will buy it immediately this time and not put it off. PLEEEEAASE! I know this seems a little overdramatic, but you have no idea how difficult picking out baby bedding has been for me. Why are there not more gender neutral non-character bedding sets for babies??

Megan's Baby Shower

Yesterday Adriane and I drove to the outskirts of Cleveland, TX to go to our dear friend Megan's baby shower. Megan is expecting a baby girl named Paisley on November 1st and I am so excited for her! Selfishly I'm also excited for myself since she lives so close by - Baby Page will already have his/her first best friend! Here are some pictures from the shower:

Although we are carrying differently our bellies are almost the same size!

The "triplets" with all different hair colors right now.

A cute dress for Miss Paisley

September 11th

As soon as I woke up this morning my heart felt sad. I knew exactly what today was without even realizing that I did.. my heart knew. On this day ten years ago I was sitting in our school library beginning a research project in my Junior English class when we got news that a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers. Our librarian wheeled a TV in so that we could watch the news and then it happened.. the second plane came out of what seemed like nowhere and crashed into the second tower. I still can't believe that I watched that happen LIVE. At the time I had never been to New York, but had always imagined myself living there at some point. That day everyone was not only an American, but a New Yorker as well. As the days passed after the 9/11 attacks the idea that something so terrible could happen finally began to feel like a reality. Although I was only 16 years old, I spent many nights crying and praying for the people of New York and for all of the people who had lost someone that day. Eventually things returned to normal but the fact that I lived through this amazingly tragic historical even will always be something that haunts me.

Fast forward 3 years. September of 2004. I met the New Yorker that would change my life. What started out as a friendship quickly blossomed into an amazing relationship, then of course a marriage, and now a baby. Our little one may be born a Texan, but it will quickly understand that he/she too is "from" New York. You see, Casey was born in and for 5 years raised in New York, but the fact that he changed geographic locations never changed the fact that he was, is, and will always be a New Yorker. There's something so incredible about the spirit of that place and Casey exudes that spirit daily. Strong willed, brave, hard working, accountable, and passionate are all words that describe Casey and frankly, all of his family. I am so proud that our baby will have these strong qualities all because I never listened to my family's advice to me as a child, "marry a good 'ol Southern boy, you can't ever marry a Yankee!" Haha. (Disclaimer: Of course my family loved Casey from the moment they met him and the fact that he was a "Yankee" was never an issue because their definition of "Yankee" changed immediately). I love my New Yorker and my New York family. When our son/daughter gets old enough to hear about the terms "9/11", "Terrorist attacks on the WTC", etc Casey and I will have to try to explain this tragic event to her/him which will be difficult to say the least. The positive side of this is that we can also explain what it means to be a hero. There are so many heroes that we can talk about from 9/11 and we are blessed to have one such hero in our family.

Casey's Uncle Nick was a NY Fire Fighter during 9/11 and still proudly wears his FDNY hats and shirts daily. He served proudly and for that we will forever be grateful.
Uncle Nick catching a HUGE crab during our last visit to Long Island. :)

I know this post may be very disjointed and the writing is frankly pretty terrible but I thought it was important to get my thoughts down today in one way or another so that looking back on the blog I can remember how I felt today. Somber, yet hopeful. Sad, yet grateful. And of course... as always .. so very proud. To be a part of New York, but most importantly to be an American.
