Yay for the weekend!

Wow, it feels like the weekend just got here and here it is halfway through Sunday. A lot has happened since Wednesday: I got my application for the teacher's certification filled out and sent in with all of my transcripts and such. I completely forgot I ever took a class at UT so I had to dig for that transcript! Wednesday night Bunko was a lot of fun and it was Shanna's birthday so Brittani had made cupcakes that were really good, here are some pictures:

Thursday night was really mellow, Casey went to stay the night with Elliott (Soeder) because he had to work on a claim Friday morning so I got the snuggle with the dogs on the couch and watch American Idol in peace (Casey hates that show). :)

Friday was a great day, I got a lot done at work and also it was Farmers Profit Sharing Day for Casey (meaning he got his yearly profit sharing bonus). It's always a good day for the claims guys because they work really hard and don't really see the fruits of their labor until this day. I got a call from Casey around 3:00 asking my opinion on a significant purchase and now we are the proud owners of this:


We are super excited and it's a really nice Kayak so it should last us for years and years. Friday night we went over to Chris and Jessica's and the guys played ping pong and me and Jess talked about the rehearsal dinner and bachelorette party. I can't believe these two will be married in 3 weeks!

Saturday was a busy, busy day. We got up around 8ish and I went ahead and put a swatch of color on the wall in our bedroom so we could be sure that we wanted to paint it that exact color. We chose this beautiful gray-green color called Hardware by Sherwin Williams. It ended up being perfect!!



After that I went to Hobby Lobby and Charming Charlie with Jessica and we had a great time just shopping around and Jessica found necklaces for the bridesmaids to wear at the wedding. They are super cute! I had no idea how awesome Charming Charlie is- I think it's my new favorite store! (Note: Mom - we'll have to go there next time you are in!) I also finally got some curtain rods for the HUGE bedroom windows so we can finally put the valances up. I can't wait to post pictures whenever the bedroom is finally finished. The rest of Saturday Casey worked on his Continuing Education for his Claims Adjuster license and that took him about 6 hours. I spent most of the day out of the house shopping so that Casey could concentrate. When I finally got home I grilled some pork chops and made mashed potatoes and baked beans for dinner - yum! We finished the night up by painting a little more in the bedroom and ended up sleeping on the couch with the dogs.

Today we have just been working on the living room floor all morning trying to get that nasty gummy stuff up that our PB rug left and getting the living room back together. We'll probably be sleeping in the guest room for a couple of nights until we can get the bedroom painting finished up.

I have to go get ready for Jessica's Bridal Shower now- I will try to post pictures from that when I get home! Hope everyone has a great week!

Yay for Hump Days!

I love Wednesdays - partly because it's the middle of the week and I know that the weekend is getting closer and also because once a month me and a few of my girlfriends get together and have Bunko Night!! For those of you who don't know what Bunko (also spelled Bunco) is, it's a group dice game and it's basically like a girls version of poker night. We all get together at someone's house and they make dinner, we eat together, then we start drinking and play Bunko- super fun! Tonight, Shanna will be hosting at Brittani's house and I'm excited because we all get to finally see Kelli's engagement ring!

In other news, I am thinking about a career change. I looooove my job at Farmers and I love the agency I work for, but I'm worried about job stability in this economy and the money just isn't there yet. I know if I stick with it I can make some awesome money, but I'm just not sure this is the right time in my life to get myself into further debt.

So, the field that I'm thinking about going into is.......................

TEACHING!

It's something that I've thought long and hard about, and while it's still not set in stone for the immediate future, it's something I'm going to be working towards in the future sometime.

Now I just have to figure out what grade I want to teach! I'm leaning toward 2nd grade, but I also like the idea of teaching high school. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm planning on going through the Alternative Teaching program through Region IV which is an online program that takes about 4 months. If I do decide to do this I will start the classes on May 6th and finish on August 29th.

NOW- the good thing about teaching is that you have summers off and with that I can still sell insurance during the summers and throughout the year, so that is something I am very excited about as well.

Wish me luck and please please please keep me in your prayers as this is going to be a difficult decision to make and an even more difficult next few months!

Oh Mondays...

After a busy and fun weekend, this was not a Monday I was looking forward to. I felt like I was dragging all day long and that's a crummy feeling to have. I got to work on time and got a lot accomplished while I was there and was looking forward to nice quiet evening of TV and Pizza Hut- but it was not to be. As soon as I walked in the door I knew Zach had had an accident- and boy what an accident it was. Took me 30 minutes to clean up and we now have to get rid of the Pottery Barn rug that Casey loves so much. Well as soon as we moved the rug we realized that this afternoon was not going to get any better. The backing of the rug (and it was not a cheap rug!!) had left a HUGE mess all over the hardwood floor in our living room and whatever backing that Pottery Barn uses in their rugs SUCKS. It's basically like having a combination of tree sap and latex foam stuff stuck all over your floor. Casey and I worked on it with Goo-Gone and a credit card for an hour before giving up for the night. It's going to take us at least a week or two to get all of it up. So umm does anyone want a dog? Haha- he's really sweet and 99% housebroken, he just had a little accident. Come on who can resist this face????


But seriously - we can't foster him forever so if you or anyone you know is looking for a sweet, fun, energetic but not hyper, smart and snuggly dog - Zach is the one for you. He's part Collie, Australian Shepherd, and maybe Catahoula and he's only a year old and he weighs probably 45 lbs. Call or e-mail me if you're interested!

Sam & Kenny's Wedding

So last night Casey and I went to Sam Abbassi and Kenny Christ's wedding in little 'ol Hockley, TX. We knew it was at Kenny's parents house, but we had no idea it was going to be so casual and relaxed! When we got there people were already drinking beer (our kind of people!) and everyone was hanging out. The weather could not have been more perfect and the land that Kenny's parents live on is amazing. It was about 3 acres at the most with a cute little house in the middle. The reception tables and barbeque stand were set up in the front and the wedding ceremony was held in the backyard. Casey and I really loved this wedding and one day hope to have one as laid back and comfortable as this one. Here are some pictures:

The reception was really nice and Suzi, Austin, Chris, Jessica, Casey, and myself had a really nice time together. Chris is Casey's best friend and Casey and I are in Chris & Jessica's wedding that is coming up next month! Casey, Chris, and Austin all went to high school together. I am so glad that we have fun couples to hang out with!

Anyway, today we are headed to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a new bedding set, then lunch at Tommy Bahama's, and finally hopefully we get to spend some time with Casey's parents because today is their anniversary!

This weekend has been busy but really a really nice change of pace. :) Oh and I turn 24 in exactly 4 months- craziness!!

Just another foggy Saturday morning

Maybe I spoke too soon about the wonderful Spring weather because this morning it's overcast and very foggy. Casey and I are getting ready to take Zach up to the Orvis in Market Street for a Houston Collie Rescue adoption event. They are a really cool organization and it's been great working with them so far. Hopefully Zach will find a 'forever home' today.

So Adriane's jewelry party was reallllly fun last night. Her neighborhood is just like Wisteria Lane on Desperate Housewives! All the women know each other and hang out all the time and are usually drinking wine by 3pm when the kids get out of school. Here is a picture of me, Megan, and Adriane at the party.



We call ourselves "the triplets" because our hair is always around the same color (we try to dye it at the same time-haha) and were all about the same size. People at Elliott Electric still call Megan 'Sarah' all the time and they've started calling Adriane 'Megan' because they can't tell us apart a lot of the time. They are great friends and I am very thankful to have them in my life.

Okay well enough for now- off to Market Street we go!

Springtime is finally here!!

YAY! It's the first day of Spring and what a beautiful day it is. It's currently 79 degrees here in Houston (Spring) and the sun is shining. I have decided to try and start blogging because I've always wanted to keep a journal but just could never keep up with it. Hope you enjoy it!

Just got home from work and I am SO relieved that the weekend is here. This week seemed to drag on forever. Tonight I am going to Adriane Russell's Premier Jewelry Party and I am super excited because I get to hang out with two of my favorite girlfriends, Adriane and Megan. We used to work at Elliott Electric together and I really miss those two- they were the only way I stayed sane at that job!

Casey is feeling a little under the weather right now so it's probaby good that I will be out of the house tonight - every time I try to be quiet I end up being clumsier than usual and realllllly loud.

Just went outside and played with the dogs for a bit. For those of you who don't know - we've been fostering a one year old Collie/Australian Shepherd mix named Zach and although he's really sweet and we really like him, we just don't think that this is the right time in our life to get another dog. So if anyone is looking for a really sweet and affectionate and 99% housebroken dog- let me know! We are taking him to an adoption event tomorrow at Market Street in The Woodlands so hopefully he will get adopted by a great family that will have plenty of time, patience, and love for him.
