Hair we go again..

On Sunday, after months of letting my hair go, I finally got a fresh hair cut and color. No more "mom hair" for this girl! My bestie Jen came to the mall with me so she could watch Ellie while the sweet girls at Toni and Guy hooked me up. Here's sweet Ellie hanging our before my appt:

So I knew I wanted a change, just didn't know what. I decided on red and brought these pics in to show to the color girl:

I mean, doesn't everyone want to look like Emma Stone?

Here are the before, during, and after pics:

Before: dry, damaged, flat, disgusting. Look at those nasty ends!

During:

Hair stuff is SO boring, Mom!

And.... Drumroll please...

After!

Okay so the lighting is terrible and my hair isn't fixed, but I'll post better photos later.

After getting my hair did we took Elle to see the piggies at the pet store. So cute! She couldn't stop smiling and giggling at them. She also started barking at them. Maybe she thought they were puppies?

Have a great week everyone!

Missing my friend

Today marks the two year anniversary since my friend Kelli's car accident and it never gets easier. I relive that phone call on a regular basis and wonder if there was more I could've done. I begged her to pull over and let me come get her. I tried to calm her down. Did I do enough? I'll never know. For now all I can do is be an advocate for safe and sober driving and to remind people not to drive when they are upset. Driving when you are distraught is just as dangerous and distracting as driving while texting or being drunk. Be careful my friends and always tell your loved ones how much you care about them, even when you are upset.

RIP Kelli Marie.

Puppy Love

"...And they called it puppy looooooove"

Ellie loves to snuggle Riley. Unfortunately Riley has not enjoyed snuggling Eleanor recently because Ellie has a tendency to pull his fur, poke his eyes, and grab his face. He'll learn to love it.

Big girl, big meals

Mealtime is always a blast with a curious toddler (can you sense the sarcasm?), but lately it's been super interesting because we've been introducing Eleanor to more "big girl" foods and even letting her play with a spoon and eat off of a plate. Today she had her very first PB&J which we all know is a rite of passage. Homegirl LOVED it. Next stop- Nutella! Om nom nom...

Also because we all know I love to brag on my kid, here is a short video of Ellie signing "all done" (or her variation) and then shaking her head "no", which is her new fave thing. Sigh.

Sick again.

It's official. I hate daycare. Okay, actually I love Ellie's school and her teachers, but why, why, WHY does it seem like every other day she has another terrible illness?? Yesterday and today, fever, funny nose, and now a bit of the big D (and I don't mean Dallas). Blah!!

Lazy Sunday

Last day of Christmas and we spent the day napping on the couch, shopping, and playing at the park while Casey and my father in law installed flooring in the attic (which nearly tripled our storage space!). I will miss spending all day with my girl!

Mommy Problems

You know you have a great life when your biggest problem is that your daughter has been snuggling and sleeping on you for the past 2 hours while you are on the couch and you have to pee REALLY bad.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Family Date Night

Ellie,
Tonight we had a family date night. After Daddy got home from work, we got dressed (yes, you and I were still in pajamas) and headed to Greek Tony's for some pizza. You love pizza. As I sat at the table watching you sitting in your daddy's lap talking and playing, I thought about how incredibly lucky we are to have you as our daughter. You are the most fun loving, happy, interactive baby I've ever been around and everyone we encounter seems to agree. We constantly get "Is she always this happy?", "Wow, you guys are lucky!", or just "You're baby is so pretty and sweet!" (Duh- haha). We can never hear it enough though. I mean, what parent gets tired of hearing how awesome their kid is? We are so thankful that God chose us to be your parents and we never ever want you to forget that we love you more than anything. You are our universe and always will be. Thank you for being you.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

BabyWearing

When Eleanor was little we took a little trip to a store called The Nurtured Family in Houston to look at different baby carriers.  I had heard of baby wearing and was intrigued.  I also liked the idea of being able to "carry" Ellie around without having my hands full.

I bought the Hava Ring Sling (the one in the left picture) and really liked it when Elle was tiny.  Unfortunately it took a lot of shjujing" to get  just right so I didn't use it as much as I had hoped.

Enter: The Ergo.  A friend of mine let me borrow her Ergo and although I didn't immediately fall in love, I grew to love it so much.

It helped me get through outings with Ellie before she was big enough to ride in the cart and now a days, it helps me get housework done when she's feeling needy.

Yesterday she rode around with me for over an hour and even took a little catnap back there.  It also gives me the perfect opportunity to tickle her little feet, seeing as she can't do much about it or run from me.   As payback, she loves to pull mommy's hair as much as possible.  Hey, you win some, you lose some right?
