What is a girl to do??? If anyone knows where I can get this Migi Bananafish Sweet Sunshine Fitted Sheet PLEASE let me know! I will buy it immediately this time and not put it off. PLEEEEAASE! I know this seems a little overdramatic, but you have no idea how difficult picking out baby bedding has been for me. Why are there not more gender neutral non-character bedding sets for babies??

Megan's Baby Shower

Yesterday Adriane and I drove to the outskirts of Cleveland, TX to go to our dear friend Megan's baby shower. Megan is expecting a baby girl named Paisley on November 1st and I am so excited for her! Selfishly I'm also excited for myself since she lives so close by - Baby Page will already have his/her first best friend! Here are some pictures from the shower:
September 11th
As soon as I woke up this morning my heart felt sad. I knew exactly what today was without even realizing that I did.. my heart knew. On this day ten years ago I was sitting in our school library beginning a research project in my Junior English class when we got news that a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers. Our librarian wheeled a TV in so that we could watch the news and then it happened.. the second plane came out of what seemed like nowhere and crashed into the second tower. I still can't believe that I watched that happen LIVE. At the time I had never been to New York, but had always imagined myself living there at some point. That day everyone was not only an American, but a New Yorker as well. As the days passed after the 9/11 attacks the idea that something so terrible could happen finally began to feel like a reality. Although I was only 16 years old, I spent many nights crying and praying for the people of New York and for all of the people who had lost someone that day. Eventually things returned to normal but the fact that I lived through this amazingly tragic historical even will always be something that haunts me.
Fast forward 3 years. September of 2004. I met the New Yorker that would change my life. What started out as a friendship quickly blossomed into an amazing relationship, then of course a marriage, and now a baby. Our little one may be born a Texan, but it will quickly understand that he/she too is "from" New York. You see, Casey was born in and for 5 years raised in New York, but the fact that he changed geographic locations never changed the fact that he was, is, and will always be a New Yorker. There's something so incredible about the spirit of that place and Casey exudes that spirit daily. Strong willed, brave, hard working, accountable, and passionate are all words that describe Casey and frankly, all of his family. I am so proud that our baby will have these strong qualities all because I never listened to my family's advice to me as a child, "marry a good 'ol Southern boy, you can't ever marry a Yankee!" Haha. (Disclaimer: Of course my family loved Casey from the moment they met him and the fact that he was a "Yankee" was never an issue because their definition of "Yankee" changed immediately). I love my New Yorker and my New York family. When our son/daughter gets old enough to hear about the terms "9/11", "Terrorist attacks on the WTC", etc Casey and I will have to try to explain this tragic event to her/him which will be difficult to say the least. The positive side of this is that we can also explain what it means to be a hero. There are so many heroes that we can talk about from 9/11 and we are blessed to have one such hero in our family.
Casey's Uncle Nick was a NY Fire Fighter during 9/11 and still proudly wears his FDNY hats and shirts daily. He served proudly and for that we will forever be grateful.

24 Weeks = 6 MONTHS!!!
Holy cannoli, I am 6 MONTHS PREGNANT you guys!! I am having a really hard time believe that in 16 short weeks we will have a son or a daughter FOR-EV-ER (said in Sandlot voice).
Here are my stats:
Week 24:
Pregnancy Stats:
How Far Along: 24 weeks 1 day
Size of baby: Papaya
Total Weight Gain: I am starting to regret tracking my weight gain on here, but as of yesterday I was 142 lbs. Yes that's a 4 in the middle of that number. I am feeling super duper huge right now and I know it's only going to get worse. This weekend I had a mini-meltdown because I couldn't fit into any of my clothes and I hadn't done laundry in about 2 weeks so I didn't have any of my cute maternity clothes clean so I had to wear some of my "fat" shorts that didn't match to the Astros game. Poor Casey... he had to deal with a lot of Sarah meltdowns this weekend.
Gender: Had our anatomy scan last Thursday and I was SO scared that the tech was accidentally going to reveal the gender. I honestly didn't look at the monitor very much because I was so scared of accidentally finding out and Casey not being there. Apparently he was scared of the same thing because as soon as he got home from work he said "You accidentally found out the gender didn't you?" He had a feeling all day about it - luckily I did NOT find out the gender. C and I are still both feeling "girl". Our family on the other hand - are almost all convinced it's a boy. We shall see!
Movement: YES! So extreme now that it's making my belly move around! I love it!!
Sleep: Good except for Riley insisting on being right up against me. It's hard to get up to pee at night when you have a 60 lb dog pinning you under the comforter.
What I miss: Eating sandwiches all the time. Also with family being in town I am missing having wine with everyone.
Cravings: Nachos... just not the fajita kind at the ballpark that are covered in tomatoes and onions. Casey went to get me nachos and instead of coming back with the delicious/terrible for you ones covered in chili and cheese, he brought back some fancy steak nachos that were covered in tomatoes and raw onions. Apparently my hormones were in full drive because I started... CRYING. Yes crying. About nachos. Like a little kid that didn't get their way. I literally could not fight back the tears - I was inconsolable. I've never been so upset over something so ridiculous in my life. Of course we were with Casey's family and my dad so I was UBER-embarassed. I slunk away to a trashcan to cry and try to pick out each tiny little shredded onion and tomato to no avail. Luckily I got over it pretty quickly.
Symptoms: Same as last week, just my hips and back a little. Feeling good otherwise.
Best Moment this week: Three best moments:
1. I was snuggling with C yesterday morning and he had his hand on the belly and the baby kicked him really hard. He was super excited!
2. Dr. D said at my appointment that this is a great week because the baby has a much better chance of surviving now that I am 24 weeks!
3. I registered at the hospital! Can you believe it? This is really going down!! We're going to have a baby, a REAL one, in a hospital! ANDDDDD - we get to take her/him home!!! WHAAAT??? I guess it's REALLY sinking in now..

23 Weeks!
Week 23:
Pregnancy Stats:
How Far Along: 23 weeks 4 days
Size of baby: Large Mango
Total Weight Gain: I was a little scared of myself when I stepped on the scale this morning. 139..... holy crap. I haven't weighed 140 since I gained the Freshman 15...make that Freshman 30 in college. 18 lbs gained. OUCH.
Gender: Still have no idea. I have my 2nd anatomy scan today (BP wouldn't flip over last time so she couldn't get a good picture of the baby's heart) and I'm praying that I don't accidentally find out. That would seriously break my heart. I love the suspense.
Movement: Still tons. One of my 3rd grade kiddos said "Is that baby having a party in there or something?!?" HAHAHA!
Sleep: Sleeping much better. I'm back to the Snoogle for most nights, but sometimes I have to prop myself up.
What I miss: During this EXTREMELY hot summer I am currently missing an ice cold Dos Equis. There's nothing like hanging out on your back porch with a nice chilly beer and relaxing after a hard day. I don't necessarily miss getting drunk but I do miss the flavor of beer.
Cravings: Pad Thai with chicken, Kung Pao chicken, peanut butter sandwiches, popsicles, Icees.
Symptoms: Just my hips and back hurting. Other than that I feel really good. :)
Best Moment this week: Yesterday Casey and I were sitting around on the computer and the baby was kicking really hard. I looked at my stomach and you could see it kicking through my shirt! Casey got to see it as well and is finally feeling the baby kick (significantly) as well. I think it's been tough for him because I get to feel the baby moving all the time and every time he puts his hand on my stomach he can't really feel it (at least he's not sure if he's feeling it). Anyway, it was really cool and special to see the baby moving my belly around.
