My Blogger Persona

Has anyone else noticed that my blog has multiple personalities? Is it a cooking blog? A family blog? Diet blog? Well my blog, like myself, is quite eclectic... and by eclectic I mean very inconsistent. I like to tell people that I don't know a lot about anything, but I know a little about everything. I also have ADHD (attention deficit) which means that my mind bounces around like crazy from one thing to another and a lot of the time I become "obsessive" about something and do that one thing for a while and then quickly burn out. Then I'll bounce to something else and then burn out and sometimes I'll go back to one thing that I have previously burnt out on and the cycle continues. While this is great if you are a believer that "variety is the spice of life" it can sometimes be cumbersome if you are trying to be consistent at something. Unfortunately my life has never been consistent so that's something that I'm trying to work on. While thinking about my New Year's Resolutions, I really figured out that my real goal this year is to be more consistent. The things I want to be consistent in are all things I've tried, but never made a habit in my life. Here are things that I would like to be consistent in:

1. Photography and taking more pictures and better pictures.
How I will achieve this consistent goal: Making it a point to take pictures every week. Also I am planning on going to my cousin's studio this summer to shadow him.

2. Staying fit. Story of most womens' lives. I just want to quit fluctuating so much so that ALL of my clothes fit ALL of the time and I don't have to have 3 different sets of clothes (really skinny clothing, normal happy size clothing, and "fat" clothing). Currently I am straddling the normal happy size and fat clothing so I want to work on shedding a few pounds on top of staying in better shape. I don't think that I will ever be one of "those" girls that has 0% body fat and looks awesome in everything, but I can be happy with my weight and size and that's what I truly want.

3. Have consistent hobbies. Did you know that I used to be a competitive inline speed skater? On the golf team in high school? A theatre geek? In junior high choir? President of the Home Ec club? An archaeology major? Highly involved in Student Government? A huge movie buff? A budding photographer? A really good cook? A Fashion Merchandising major? An avid doodler and painter? The list goes on. Do I do any of these things on a regular basis these days? Nope. I just want to be more consistent in my hobbies and doing something twice a year does not a hobby make.

Singin' in the rain

Here is my first attempt at a fashion centered blog entry. I have been wanting to blog some of my outfits because I am really passionate about fashion and want to be able see some of the things I wore during the "2010s". It's also nice to see how one's style can evolve. I am giving credit to Alyson for inspiring me - she has been blogging about fashion for a while now and I love her blog. Keep up the good work!

First things first - I found my bridal shoes! Here they are in all their glory. After spending a rainy day scouring eBay and the sale racks at the Galleria for a pair of expensive designer shoes (I really wanted this pair of Louboutins), I walked into Baker's on a whim and found these:



Hallelujah! I thought I would never find shoes that I was happy enough with to wear on my wedding day, but alas - here they are. Casey appreciated the price tag of these beauties- they were on sale for $59.99, which is much better than $595+ for a pair of designer shoes.

Now, back to my original post. I got up this morning to more rain. It has been raining or threatening rain non stop this week because of Hurricane Alex and while I usually love rain, the grayness is starting to get to me. When I wake up to rain, it makes me want to lay around in my pajamas all day and watch movies. I have a bajillion things to do so this is not an option. I went into my closet to find an outfit that was practical, but would also cheer me up. I planned my outfit around my trusty pink rainboots and I did my hair in a messy braid with my bangs pulled back which is perfect for a rainy day.




And here's a synopsis of my outfit:

Grey striped shirt: purchased my sophomore year of college from Goody's
Jeans: Simply Vera by Vera Wang (Kohls) - purchased for $15 (I love a good sale!)
Rainboots: Claire's - circa 2002
Pink Sports bra: Fruit of the Loom
Pink belt: Forever 21
Leopard umbrella: Target

Also - you will notice that I belt EVERYTHING. I am a serial belter.

Now off to play (run errands) in the rain!

Why can't anyone make a decent looking bridesmaid dress?

O. M. G. Okay maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but I have literally been looking for bridesmaid's dresses since November and I just simply can't find anything that I'm even 90% happy with. This afternoon Jessica and I went to 3 different places to try on bridesmaid dresses and came out with 3-4 maybes... and these were VERY big maybes.

Does anyone know of any cute bridesmaid dresses that are under $300? I have tried looking at department stores as well but since my bridesmaids are spread out all over, I'm not sure I can go that route. Here are my prerequisites:

*Must be knee length or shorter- I absolutely refuse to put my bridesmaids in anything tea-length.
*Must come in Black, Medium or Dark Grey, or a Dark Indigo Blue color.
*I love pockets
*I also love flower detailing
*I hate anything shiny- so that takes away taffeta, satin, or silk charmeuse as an option.
*I really really want it to be re-wearable. We've all got enough ugly bridesmaids dresses in our closet, my girls don't need any extra one.

Okay so if you could keep an eye out for me - that would be AWESOME!

I just tried to post pictures of them and for some reason my iphone saved them as a weird format and blogger isn't letting me post. Oh well, they weren't that great anyway.

Haaaaaaarrrrrrryyyyyyy Potter!

This weekend Casey and I did not do much at all and loved every minute of it! On Friday afternoon we did yard work and I mowed our entire 1/4 acre front and back yard all by myself! WHOO HOO!! This is only the 3rd time I have ever mowed a lawn - so YAY! After the yard work and a much needed shower, Casey and I went out to eat at Brother's Pizza and I cheated (GASP!) on Atkins by having a delicious slice of pizza. I figured that I burned at least twice that many calories mowing the lawn so I deserved a little treat. After that we went to Wal Mart where they had all of the Harry Potter movies on sale and we bought the first one since I have never read the books or seen any of the movies. I also bought a really cute shirt from Miley Cyrus/Max Azria's new line for Wal Mart which is SO CUTE!! I was really impressed! We went home and curled up on the couch with the dogs and watched as much of the movie as we could get through before going to bed. I really loved the movie so I decided to start reading the books with all this time I have on my hands. I went to the library and luckily - they had plenty of copies for me to borrow. That's my project for this week - Book 1!


This week I only work 2 or 3 days so I am going to have a ton of time on my hands. I am hoping to get the front and back gardens weeded and the house super clean.

Also - today is the last day of my Alternative Certification Program! I have one assignment to do and then I'm done. Now I just need that job.....
